To track targeted activities on advertisers' websites, HOQU typically uses cookies from users' browsers. However, according to the GDPR and ITP requirements, cookies can only be used with the consent of the user, and users may choose not to use cookies at all.

To be GDPR and ITP compliant and keep track of at the same time, HOQU has a cookieless tracking solution.

Accuracy: because HOQU generates unique referral transition identifiers that are generated only when a user clicks on an affiliate link, advertisers can accurately track individual transactions.

Privacy & Security: Because these solutions use server-side tracking, they prevent cookies from being loaded, which reduces the risk of fraud from partners.

Mobile Tracking: сookieless tracking is ideal for tracking mobile platforms. As mentioned earlier, various mobile devices like iPhones have default browsers that automatically reset cookies. Refusing to use cookies means getting effective and accurate results on all mobile devices.

Tracking between devices: Regardless of the device users are using (mobile, desktop, portable, etc.), cookieless tracking provides accurate information about conversions and targeted actions.

Tracking in applications: a large number of applications work without the use of cookies to generate data on user behavior.

How an affiliate link works

In the course of working with the affiliate program, the affiliate places an affiliate link on his site. An affiliate link is generated on the basis of a link leading to the advertiser's website and containing the advertiser's GET parameters and UTM tags, necessary for the platform.

One of the GET parameters must pass the value of a unique identifier (click ID), which is generated on the side of the HOQU platform at the moment the user clicks on the link.

An example of a link after clicking on an affiliate link:

The value of the click ID must be obtained from the GET parameter (click_id) at the user's entrance to the site and saved for 30 days in cookies. After that, you need to associate the click ID with the completed user application and write it to the advertiser's database. The value of the click ID should be passed in the tracking code.

How tracking works without using cookies

After the user has followed the affiliate link and made the target action, the advertiser saves the value of the click ID and passes it in the tracking code in the click_id parameter.

Sample image pixel code without using cookies:

<img src = "" alt = "HOQU" width = "1px "heigth =" 1px "style =" position: absolute; left: -999px ">

The example transfers the following data:

click_id - unique identifier of the transition, which is passed in the click_id GET parameter

request_id - Unique request ID on the Advertiser's side

action - tariff (specified in the offer).
